In 1943, under Franco's rule, customs officer Manel Grau begins helping people cross the border from Nazi-occupied France into Spain. As suspicion rises and the regime closes in, Manel finds himself drawn into an increasingly dangerous mission, one that forces him and his wife Mercè to confront the personal and political scars left by the Spanish Civil War.
